01Cavities
Fillings
A filling repairs a tooth damaged by decay, so it is strong and healthy again.
- What it is
- Removing the decay and filling the space, usually with tooth-colored material.
- Who it helps
- Anyone with a cavity or a small crack.
- What to expect
- Usually one visit, with the area numbed first.
02Repair and replace
Crowns and bridges
A crown is a cap that covers and protects a weak or broken tooth. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by attaching to the teeth on either side.
- What it is
- Custom-made caps (crowns) and fixed replacement teeth (bridges).
- Who it helps
- People with cracked, worn or heavily filled teeth, or a gap from a missing tooth.
- What to expect
- Usually two visits: one to prepare, one to fit the final crown or bridge.
03Save the tooth
Root canal therapy
When the nerve inside a tooth is infected or badly inflamed, a root canal removes the infection and saves the tooth instead of pulling it.
- What it is
- Cleaning out the inside of the tooth and sealing it, often followed by a crown.
- Who it helps
- People with deep decay, a cracked tooth or a lasting toothache.
- What to expect
- The tooth is numbed. Most people say it feels like a long filling.
04Replace
Dental implants
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a post set in the jaw and a crown on top. It is the longest-lasting tooth replacement available today.
- What it is
- A permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth.
- Who it helps
- Adults missing a tooth, or denture wearers who want a more secure fit.
- What to expect
- Several visits over a few months while the implant heals in place.
